Big Shed Energy: A Shed Demo Story from Port Orchard 🛠️
If you’ve got an old, rickety shed just hanging out in your backyard like a guest who’s overstayed their welcome—this one’s for you.
Shed removals are a common job here at Yetter’s Junk Removal, and this recent project in Port Orchard had it all:
✔ A shed that had seen better decades
✔ Blackberry brambles and a property fence-line to protect
✔ Some very bold mice with no fear of humans
✔ One super kind customer (with great taste in T-shirts)
40 Years of "Why Is That Still There?"
This particular shed had been standing for nearly four decades. It was more than ready to retire. The floors were rotted, blackberry vines had taken over the roof, and—thanks to a change in property management—it finally had to go. The new management company limited the number of sheds per property, so the time had come to say goodbye.
The homeowner had been wanting to take it down for years, but between tangled overgrowth and the fear of disturbing the neighbor’s blackberry haven for the local habitat, she needed a team that could handle it with care.
Enter: us.
Blackberry Brambles & Mouse Houses 🐭
Now, here’s where it gets interesting. On the side of the shed was a wire fence, and behind that fence was a very passionate neighbor who was not thrilled about the idea of disturbing the blackberry bushes. Why? Because they provide food and shelter for local wildlife, and she wanted to protect that habitat. We made sure we removed just the overgrowth directly on the shed, careful not to harm the bushes beyond what was absolutely necessary.
As we began peeling back the siding and flooring, we found...well… surprises of a few mouse nests, tucked in under the boards. These little guys were so unbothered by our presence, we joked they must’ve been paying rent. 🐁
We carefully worked around them and worked section by section to dismantle the shed away from the fence and protect both the habitat and the harmony.
From Rot to Refresh
The structure may have started as an eyesore, but by the end, the customer had a clear, open space full of possibilities.
Even better? She was so pleased she even asked for one of our Yetter’s Junk Removal T-shirts (which she proudly put on right after we finished the job). Those are the moments we can never get over.
